DC is the evil

If I ever become like many of the other immigrants into this city, I authorise anyone reading this to shoot me, twice in the head, so you're sure I'm dead.

I have never been around so many, if not hostile, rude people. In the last fourteen months, I have lived in Seattle (which was the previous pinnacle of insular diffidence), California, Manhattan, and Washington, DC. Even when I lived in Paris, almost thirteen years ago, people were ten times more open and friendly than they are here. I have never had so many smiles and greetings met with so many frowns, shrugs, and implications of intrusion.

People who have just moved to DC, I have just one message for you -- LIGHTEN UP. Take a cue from the residents of Virginia or Maryland, or the natives of DC, who are among the nicest people I've met. It's like oil and water -- they're completely different, and completely immiscible.
