Nanowrimo

Submitted by reeses on Sun, 2004-10-31 22:50. |

Since I'm spending hours of every day trying to find something to do in a hotel room in the Great White Neighbor of The Great White North, I figure I'll do Nanowrimo this November, that is, tomorrow.

This serves as my semi-non-repudiable (after all, I can delete this on 30 Nov) announcement that I am open to chiding and deriding if I fail to meet the 50k word quota.

I think I'll just get drunk and write the whole thing in one wrist-reducing frenzy, kind of an anti-Kerouac moment. Stay updated with the progress with the convenient counter in the upper-right corner.

Pumpkin? Only in West Virginia!

Yet again, Kat really didn't get the point of jack o'lanterns.

Witness, exhibit A, my pumpkin carving.

And compare with exhibit B, her ghoulish pumpkin that will have me waking up in a cold sweat for weeks.

Why I am on the fence this election

I think I'm not alone in my lack of love for the current Bush administration. John Ashcroft is a carbuncle doing his best to undermine any vestigial ideas of liberty and justice remaining to us as Americans. Dick Cheney is a vile, lying, cheating tubba goo whose only positive trait is the hope offered by the Cheney Curse. Donald Rumsfeld just scares me.

According to the Internet, this is enough reason to vote for John Kerry. Every justification that I can find for voting for Kerry/Edwards amounts to,"They're not Bush/Cheney!"

Fell out of the Big Sky Country

Sitting here in a nasty Sheraton hotel room in Billings, Montana, the victim of a failed oil pump thingamagibbet, I reflect on the fact that it's disgusting that there are still problems you can't buy your way out of. Apparently, American Express's television ads are only honest if you're in a real city with real airplanes and stuff, not some place where they'd have to find the one private pilot, still sober on a Friday night, willing to fly you the 500 miles or whatever it would take to get to your parents' for your mom's birthday.

Face eating tumor

"Hi, I'm Bobby Smith, child star of Face Eating Tumor."

(No, I couldn't be bothered to turn off the room lights before taking the picture, thankyouverymuch. At least you don't see a reflection of me in my underwear.)

Free TVs

I need to get rid of a couple TVs, so if you're in the DC area, or can be in the DC area, come by and pick one or both up. I need to get rid of them before I pick up the LCD for the bedroom.

The nicer one is a Panasonic CT-27SF25W made in Jan '99 and probably bought by me around then. It has a great 27" picture, has lots of good inputs for SD, except for component. It has composite, svideo, and cable.

The other TV is Kat's old Samsung TXB2015, a 20" CRT with cable input, and I think that's it. I haven't turned it on in ages, but Kat's owned it since '96 or so. It was made in Nov '95.

You really need to be able to cart these yourself, because I'm not a big fan of helping people carry freebies. :-) I live in the downtown Bethesda area (which most of you already know), and am only available Friday-Sunday. If you can't make it this weekend, the next window is the weekend after the 15th.
