I stumbled across this monster on the way to the bank this afternoon. It's hard to tell, but it's sitting on a sidewalk made of "normal" sized bricks. He (or she) was about 3"+ long, which is way too big for a bug out in the wild, or at least the non-wilds of which I am an inhabitant.

Edit: Thanks to goose, I have learned that this is an adult hellgrammite, or dobson fly.
