We took a trip down to the Luray Caverns where they are, apparently, researching new high-density optical storage. I didn't see any HD-DVDs for sale, but we couldn't find our way back to that department, apparently.

On the way back, we didn't really want to spend another afternoon driving up Highway 29, after driving up and down it on the way to Monticello when my parents were here, and up it today. Kat decided that we should try the Skyline Drive which, we discovered, had a $10 fee. I think it was intended for people who were interested in stopping along the way, rather than just looking for a quicker way back to civilisation.

Me, holding money out of toll booth person's range: Does this go through to I-66?

Ranger Rick: Yes, but it is foggy up there.

Me, relinquishing money: OK, thanks!

"It is foggy."

I think it would have been better phrased thus:

Me, holding money out of toll booth person's range: Does this go through to I-66?

Ranger Rick: It does, but dude, you do not want to go that way. It's foggy as hell, and you'll be stuck, with four other cars, behind some frightened moron from New Jersey in a minivan with his hazard lights on for ten miles, unable to pass. In addition, because it's so foggy, you won't see bupkis off either side of the road.

Me, putting money back into pocket and preparing to turn around: Thanks, bro.
