Dumbassery and the city by the bay

I have never ever done something so completely stupid in my life. I had difficulty going to sleep last night, so I didn't nod off until about 3:00-3:20am, about two hours before my alarm. I normally wake up much closer to my flight time (in this case, 8:22am), but I didn't want to give the already-nearly-terminal Kat the feeling that she'd have to rush. I hate being at the airport ninety minutes or more ahead of the flight time, but I could have slept anywhere at that point. Everything unfolded right on schedule. I called the cab, he arrived on time, and we got to Reagan National Airport at about 7:10am, with plenty of time to glide through security and stroll to the gate. Perfect, right? Yes, it would have been perfect, if I had made flight reservations that originated at National, and not Dulles. To her credit, Kat didn't tear into me or even start crying. I grabbed our bags, flagged down a cab and had him break airport regulations by not making us go to the taxi stand two flights of stairs and a long line away, and speed us to Dulles. We lucked out since no one was in the Premier/First Class line at checkin, and someone opened up a security line right in front of us. Had any of those things not worked out, I'd probably be a single man, or a single corpse, today. On top of that, the view from the hotel balcony isn't bad at all. Post new comment |
