What you see in the picture above is an annoying problem with Flash under Firefox on the Mac about which I've been kvetching for roughly ever. The initial render may be fine, but as soon as I change the window size, scrolling, etc., such that a redraw is necessary, most or all of the window is corrupted. What you see above is the result of loading a picture in Flickr and twiddling the scrollbars.

I've upgraded Firefox and Flash, purged my preferences, cleared all my caches, and basically did a scorched-earth installation of the apps, to no avail. It has been so annoying that I actively avoid pages with any flash.

Today, I found out what was causing the problem. If you look at the screenshot, you'll see a little "Adblock" tab, which is put next to any flash element by the Adblock Firefox plugin. This is used to enable semi-automated filtering of flash content, which would be otherwise difficult to achieve using the standard Adblock event model of "right click on offensive object".

BAD ADBLOCK TAB!

It turns out that going into the Adblock preferences (Tools->Adblock->Preferences->Adblock Options) and unchecking "Obj-Tabs" removes the tabs, and I can use flash as well under Firefox as I can under Safari, or on the PC.
